Exterior and Interior
The 5th generation SL was engineered as a grand tourer, with a long hood, wide arches, and ample space for luggage. This example, being an SL 55 AMG, is outfitted with sporty exterior touches as a part of the AMG Styling Pack such as aggressive bumpers, side skirts, and a spoiler. The beautiful lines and AMG kit are accentuated by the Tanzanite Blue Metallic paint job. The 5th generation SL was only available with a retractable metal hard top and the hydraulic cylinders have been replaced on this car for hassle-free operation. The upgraded front grille with one lateral bar instead of five modernizes the front end. The car sits on 19″ AMG alloy wheels with new Falken tires on all four corners. Despite the mileage, the interior of this 2003 Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG has been preserved beautifully with the grey leather that still looks fresh. The deep wood veneer and plastic trim frames the knobs and buttons to give the cabin a refined touch.
Engine
Popping the hood of this SL 55 AMG reveals its 5.5 liter supercharged M113 V8 that pushes out a respectable 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This example is far from stock and has been treated to a K&N air filter and a smaller supercharger pulley to improve the performance of this big German V8. All services are up to date as well with oil and spark plugs being changed recently. This massive power plant is mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission which has been serviced recently.
